Itinerary: Hanoi - Halong bay - Hoa Lu - Hue - Hoian - Danang - Cuchi tunnels - Vung Tau - Hochiminh
Day 1: Hanoi – Arrival (-/-/-)
Meet upon arrival at Hanoi International Airport, then transfer to the hotel for check-in.
Late afternoon, enjoy a ride cyclo tour to Hanoi old quarter with 36 streets which were formally named after the products sold and where for centuries peddlers have traded their wares.
Time at leisure. Accommodation in Hanoi. Check - in time at 2:00pm.
Day 2: Hanoi city tour (B/L/-)
We discover Hanoi-the charming capital of Vietnam today:
Hochiminh’s mausoleum (closed on Monday, Friday, every afternoon & in October, November) and his residence, One pillar pagoda, Temple of Literature, Hanoi Hilton prison, Army Museum, Opera house, Indochina bank, French colonial quarter. Then explore Hoan Kiem lake.
Attend a performance of water puppets show. Accommodation in Hanoi.
Day 3: Hanoi – Hoalu – Tamcoc (B/L/-)
Drive to Hoalu, ancient capital of Vietnam kingdom in the 10th century. Visit Dinh & Le temples dedicated to Dinh & Le dynasties. Then proceed to Tam Coc. Lunch at local restaurant.
Enjoy 2 hours excursion on small sampan to discover the stunning landscapes between rice fields and limestone. Back to Hanoi in the late afternoon. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 4: Hanoi – Halong bay (B/L/D)
8.00am depart for Halong bay, 180km east of Hanoi, listed as World Heritage Area by UNESCO in 1994.
12:00, we board a traditional junk to discover the 8th World Wonder where the movie "Indochine" was realized with Catherine Deneuve, French star in the 1990’s. Lunch on boat with fresh seafood. It is time to relax on the deck through the most beautiful landscapes with more than 2,000 islands and limestone, rising from the emerald water. Visit a natural cave, the most picturesque grotto in the bay. Swimming if possible and relaxing on the deck. Dinner & Overnight aboard.
Day 5: Halong bay – Hue (B/L/-)
Continue our excursion until lunch.
At 12h00 Drive to Hanoi domestic airport for flight to Hue. Visit a workshop of potteries en route.
Take the flight to Hue.
Meet our guide at Hue Airport and transfer to hotel for check-in. Leisure time. Accommodation in Hue.
Day 6: Hue city tour (B/L/-)
Full day to explore Hue, the former Royal city of the 13 ruling Nguyen dynasties: visit the Imperial Citadel and Forbidden city, Tu Duc king’ mausoleum and a local market Dong Ba. Enjoy a boat trip on the Perfume River to discover Thien Mu pagoda, the wonderful architectural structures for religious worship in Hue. Lunch at local restaurant. Accommodation in Hue.
Day 7: Hue – Hoian (B/L/-)
Depart for Danang. The scenic 3.5hours drive vie Hai Van pass (Pass of Clouds) offers spectacular views of mountains, the sea, idyllic beaches and villages. Visit Cham museum on the way. We continue further south to the charming historic city of Hoian. Upon arrival, check-in at hotel. Accommodation in Hoian
Day 8: Hoian – My Son (B/L/-)
After breakfast, discover Hoian ancient town, known to early Western merchants, the city was one of the major trading centers of Southeast Asia in the 16th century. Hoian has a distinctive Chinese atmosphere with low, tiled-roof houses and narrow streets. Many of the houses were constructed of rare timbers and decorated with lacquer panels engraved with Chinese characters and pillars carved with ornamental designs. Visit historic merchants and community houses, places of worship and Japanese bridge, market Hoian.
PM: Drive to My Son sanctuary, formerly royal empire Cham 4-13th centuries. Accommodation in Hoi An.
Day 9: Hoian biking tour – Tra Que & Kim Bong Villages (B/L/-)
We peddle to Tra Que village to learn the vegetable culture and to watch how the farmers grow all kind of species and vegetable. Lunch at local house. We continue our journey to Kim Bong wood carving village. The more adventurous can then ride a bicycle along the paths of this scenic village. Back to hotel. Overnight in Hoian.
Day 10: Hoian – Saigon (B/L/-)
Transfer to Danang Domestic Airport for flight to Hochiminh city/Saigon
Meet on arrival, transfer to the hotel for check-in. Lunch at local restaurant.
PM: Discover Hochiminh city (formerly Saigon), the biggest economic center in the country: visit Opera house, cathedral Notre Dame and Post Office, China town, Thien Hau pagoda, a lacquer factory. Accommodation in Saigon.
Day 11: Saigon – Cuchi tunnels – Caodai temple (B/L/-)
AM: Drive to Cu Chi tunnels. At its height, the tunnel system stretched from Saigon to Cambodian border and was three levels deep. There are more than 200km of underground tunnels, consisting of a main axis system with many branches connecting to underground hideouts, shelters and other tunnels.The remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and a feel of what underground life in the war must have been like. Lunch at local restaurant.
PM:Proceed to Cao Dai temple in Tay Ninh, the biggest religious centre where the world is in peace and where you find a perfect mixture of Buddhism, Catholicism and Confucianism. Return to Saigon for overnight.
Day 12: Saigon – Mekong delta (B/L/-)
Drive to Mytho to explore the Mekong delta. Mytho is famous for its extensive orchards and immense rice fields. Enjoy a boat trip on the Mekong river and visit an orchard on an island. Lunch at local restaurant.
Back to Saigon. Accommodation in Saigon.
Day 13: Saigon – Vung Tau (B/L/-)
You depart for Vung Tau. We start our visit to the White Villa, the former area known as “Flags”, the East sea beach, located across the road from where the Peter Badcoe club once stood, and the VC Memorial located where 1 ALSG once stood. Check-in at hotel. The rest of day at leisure. Overnight in Vung Tau.
Day 14: Vung Tau - Baria – Long Tan – Nui Dat – Long Phuoc – Saigon (B/L)
After visiting the fishing village along the sea front, you travel northeast to the township of Baria, the Long Tan Battlefield, and Nui Dat. Whilst few remnants remain of the former Task Force Base, plenty of time is allowed to explore the area and visit the local school, which is in need of repair and is situated at the end of what was once Luscombe Airstrip. You lunch at the Long Phuoc Tunnels and then make your way back to Saigon
Check-in at hotel. The rest of day at leisure. Overnight in Saigon.
Day 15: Saigon – Depart (B/-/-)
Breakfast at hotel, transfer to HCM/Tan Son Nhat International Airport for departure flight. Tour ends. Check-out before 12:00
